A brooding if attractively fresh and moderately deeply pitched mix of plum
so if you are waiting to pop your bottles
Savoury rather than fruity
Tasted blind at a private dinner in Bordeaux
Once again very firm reduction buries the underlying fruit
Yvon Metras, Fleurie other_regions_italy A brooding if attractively freshOne's milage can vary significantly when aging Yvon Mtras' wines, but from my cellar, the 2017 Fleurie is performing quite well, even if I preferred it a few years ago. Exhibiting aromas of rose petals, cherry pits, smoked meats and spices, it's medium to full bodied, sweet and fleshy, with powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish and a touch of spritzy residual carbon dioxide.
